It has been a really long while since we did much programming. So I got a new phone finally and downloaded the Android SDK , six months later I had written an application for it, and another six or so months later I have finally posted it online.
What is it?
It is a body mass index calculator. From wikipedia:
The body mass index (BMI), or Quetelet index, is a heuristic proxy for human body fat based on an individual's weight and height. BMI does not actually measure the percentage of body fat. It was devised between 1830 and 1850 by the Belgian polymath Adolphe Quetelet during the course of developing "social physics". Body mass index is defined as the individual's body mass divided by the square of his or her height. The formulae universally used in medicine produce a unit of measure of kg/m2.
I wrote this application using Android 2.2. So it should be compatible with most phones. However I haven't really tested outside of my phone (HTC Sensation) and the built in Android emulator.
What does it come with?
It comes with full source code. It also includes the built APK. The apk file is the compiled java code that the phone runs. To use it on your phone, download the APK to your phone and run it.
How do I download?
Get the source code and apk (bmicalc_03162012.zip) 26kb. Its really tiny!
